Video Gaming: A Year in Review

Despite a slew of new games that hit the market, including the record-setting release of Modern Warfare 2, a USA Today article reports that 2009 didn’t beat out 2008 in terms of sales. Though fewer people appeared to buy video games, more people are playing games–an estimated two-thirds of Americans now play games on various media, including traditional consoles and even networking sites. Optimists are hoping that the roughly 2 million fewer consoles sold is made up for in software sales. As for the outlook for 2010: “Casual” gaming will continue to rise and more big releases are on the horizon.
