The damage to my step-brothers apartment

I got a call from my step-brother the other day to tell me that the apartment beneath his had caught on fire. My step-brother was okay; however he said that he was going to have to get rid of a few of his things that were on his porch. He said that aside from some smoke damage all of his stuff inside his house appeared to have been spared. He then asked me if I could stay over at his house for the next few days. I told him that would not be a problem and that he could stay as long as he wants.
