I Love Dental Floss – Dentists love Dental Floss and why you should too!

Every time I go to see the dentist for that yearly cleaning I hear a similar thing: ‘You only need to floss the ones that you need to keep”; I suspect it is the joke of the industry and everybody uses it.

Still, there’s something vital in the statement. You see, I am the guy that simply likes to floss my teeth. In the automobile, at home watching TV and obviously after a good and comprehensive brushing of teeth. If you are not crazy about dental floss, then you most likely don’t realize not only how vital it is for good oral cleanliness but also how great it makes your teeth feel.

Consider teeth like boxes stacked up against one another; 2 sides show while 2 sides are against one another. Now think how much a tooth brush can clean those 2 sides of your teeth that are against one another. Not too much, right? Brushing alone simply is not enough to get to the plaque from the interior surface between your teeth.

The Interproximal areas or places between your teeth and below the gum line are 2 spots where the toothbrush simply can’t reach and old food fragments get stuck, changing into a perfect expansion environment for plaque. These are the places where cavities are also sure to develop. Once plaque stiffens, it needs removed at that regular trip to the dentist I was letting you know about above.

Daily flossing nevertheless cleans out the plaque before it absolutely toughens, keeping your teeth seeming better, and more fit, and removing a major reason for halitosis. Drumroll please……So Enter Dental Floss and the act of flossing. Dental floss looks simply like thread, usually made from inorganic material like nylon. Dental floss comes in a good spread of styles and sizes including waxed, non-waxed, flat, round and textured, with bicarbonate of soda, with fluoride and even with it’s own dental floss holders. Those things can be discovered at chemists, food store stores or thru medical supply stores.

So when flossing, find one that you like. My personal number one is mint flavored waxed. Boy, you simply can’t beat the simplicity of use and mint flavor. Anyway….Dental floss comes on a roll in a plastic container. Pull off two feet of floss. Hey, it’s inexpensive and it makes the job way easier. Next, wind one end around your index finger 2 times. The trick here is to wind it around enough you can pull the long end and it will not slip off your finger. Now grasp the long end, wrap it a couple of times around your other index finger leaving almost 1-2 inches of floss between both fingers and make preparations for an excellent experience. Simply open your mouth, place one finger against the 1-2 in. piece of floss and push between two teeth.

When only starting, use any teeth that you are comfy reaching. Now once the floss is between your teeth, use it like a little brush and pull it against one tooth and move it up and back down between the teeth then do the other tooth surface.

Ultimately pull the dental floss out from between those 2 teeth. You should feel a little tug and a snap as the floss frees itself from between the 2 teeth. Occasionally with a good increase of plaque, this snap will release small pieces of white like go. This is good. Next, wrap another 2 inches of floss around your index finger, grab the long end again with another centimeter or 2 of clean dental floss and you are prepared for the subsequent teeth.

Repeat with another 2 teeth till you go round and clean between all of them. Personally, I’m able to do a couple of teeth before I want to refresh my floss. Flossing leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean without the necessity to synthetic breath fresheners. If done right with healthy teeth and gums, flossing won’t by itself cause your mouth or gums to bleed. Bleeding can occur however if you incidentally push the floss into your gums to hard. Do not worry though; a fast wash with cold water will customarily look after everything. Last warning: Flossing can be addictive.
