Memories and Pottery

December 29, 2009 on 5:55 pm | By admin | In Arts | Comments Off

This post deals with a person’s first memories of his (her?) grandmother teaching him how to use a pottery wheel and making a bowl for the first time. It’s interesting how our great loves in life, the hobbies that complete us, often come from cherished memories. I do pottery, too, and I think part of the reason I love it (other than the sensuality of it and the creative feeling it gives me) is that I fell in love with my instructor when I first took the class in college! It was a passionate, doomed romance, but one I don’t regret – and I often think of it with a smile and longing as I create.
